Unlocking Leadership Potential - Overcoming Immunity to Change

Overview

Ever had a goal or work challenge that remains elusively out of reach? Ever had a talented team member, that no matter how much you enabled, encouraged and supported them, just couldn’t get the job done? This program can not only help you directly achieve your leadership potential, but also help you unlock your team’s potential too.

Discover, learn and practice a leadership technique based on world-leading psychological research from Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey.  Allow yourself, your peers and your team to unlock their potential and reveal the hidden subconscious goal conflicting with the stated goal needing to be achieved. This hidden goal is known as a ‘competing commitment’ and can render you or the people around you unable to change.

Join us for this half day program to remove a personal stumbling block to a desired goal and help your talented team become more effective by discovering what’s really going on when people who seem genuinely committed, falter in key pursuits. 

Method of delivery - this program will involve a mixture of presentations about relevant theory, tools and techniques, as well as facilitated and experiential learning exercises designed specifically to provide hands-on practice in using the technique in ways that are relevant to the participant. There will also be a relevant article for pre-reading.

Program Outcomes

A balance of information, self-discovery and practice will enable participants to:

Program Facilitator

Dr John Wood

Dr John Wood’s background and corporate experience is extensive, including roles as a HR and OD specialist, consultant, company director, manager and now business owner.  He has been employed in manufacturing, financial services and the professional services sectors and consulted with other industries throughout Australia, including energy, resources, defence, government and pharmaceuticals.  In addition John has complemented his experience with academic qualifications including a PhD addressing the qualities of successful CEOs. John has also been a practicing psychologist since 1983.

John has designed and delivered leadership development programs for enhanced performance, culture change and corporate wide leadership initiatives.  The programs include values and competency based models, 360 degree feedback and action-based learning.

John has accreditation in Human Synergistics Life Styles Inventory (LSI), Human Synergistics Organisation Culture Inventory (OCI), Human Synergistics Organisation Effectiveness Inventory (OEI), Human Synergistics Leadership Impact (LI), Executive Dimensions, Benchmarks, Skillscope, By Design, MLQ, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Myers Briggs Type Indicator (EAR), Leadership Maturity Framework (LMF), Subject-Object Interviewing.

John is also the co-lead facilitator for the Leaders Institute of SA’s flagship program, the Governor’s Leadership Foundation.
