GLF ALUMNI INFORMATION

The GLF program year is just the start of the journey. At the end of each year, participants who have met the criterai for graduation are awarded a GLF Fellowship by the Governor of South Australia and they have the option of paying an annual subscription fee or becoming a Life Member of the GLF Network (GLFN) that is, the Alumni body of the GLF. GLF Network subscriptions are utilised in their entirety for Network purposes. Financial Membership entitles you to participate in all Network activities (many of which are free of charge), to vote at the Leaders Institute AGM and to vote for members of the Network Executive, including Network representatives for the Leaders Institute Board of Directors.

The Network Executive revised the Network Charter in September 2011 in consultation with graduates. The primary focus of the Network is to provide all financial members with opportunities for:

  • Professional development
  • Access to business and community initiatives
  • Social activities, ongoing engagement and connection with graduates across all GLF years

Current initiatives supported by the GLF Alumni include:

  • GLF THINK TANK - an innovative way for GLF graduates to make a solid contribution to responses to complex and interconnected issues. It’s also the perfect opportunity to really get your teeth into it and work with some of your fellow GLF graduates over an extended period of time. For more info see sidebar link.
The Leaders Institute is currently collaborating with SA Health as part of their Healthy Workers Initiative. We look forward to co-creating innovative strategies that will make a significant difference to the SA community’s health and well being through workplace environments that make a difference. This will be achieved via a new Think Tank commencing in December 2010.

  • COMMUNITY BOARD VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM - provides GLF graduates with the opportunity to volunteer in positions of responsibility on the boards of community organisations. For more info see sidebar link.
  • GLF ANNUAL SURVEY RESULTS 2009 - The survey confirmed the belief in the value of undertaking the GLF and its long term impact. Respondents indicated since completing the programme they approach work challenges differently, are more aware of how their organisation impacts society and are more vocal and active about the issues they feel passionately about. In turn the Alumni believe providing the Network Scholarship to a community participant continues to be extremely worthwhile.
  • THE GLF NETWORK EDGE PROGRAM - Designed to enhance your performance as a leader. For more info see sidebar link.

Other current initiatives most valued by the graduates are:
  • Monthly Network e-newsletter
  • Annual International Leadership Week Lunch
  • Graduate Database
  • Subsidised Development Programmes (such as those offered through AICD)
  • The Graduation Cocktail Evening
  • Provision of a full scholarship for a participant from a community organisation to undertake the GLF program each year
  • Social events
  • Free lunch events partnered within the current GLF Program.
  • Free professional development event invitations for graduates (some partnered with GLF participants and some allowing you to bring partners)

The responses from the annual survey will assist in developing the ongoing foci for the Alumni Executive. What we ask of our graduate members is to please keep providing ideas and feedback and any potential articles for the Leaders Institute News. Please email any relevant information to Claire at  claire.johnson@lisa.com.au .
